CNP is committed to managing its business in an environmentally responsible manner at all times. Environmental considerations guide energy use in our plant, water in our manufacturing processes and the types of packaging systems that we offer. We are a world-class operator, good corporate citizen and a great employer.

CNP has initiatives in place to become a more sustainable company:

Organic Farmland: CNP supports over 6,000 acres of organic farmland through the purchases of organic agriculture commodities. Rice, soybeans, vegetables and wine grapes are key organic inputs to CNP’s healthy product offerings. By supporting organic farming, CNP promotes soil, pest and disease management programs that reduce environmental impacts.

Landfill Waste Reduction: CNP has installed an innovative new recycling solution called a draining bailer. This technology allows CNP to recapture 100% of all waste in the waste stream. We then send the packaging to recycling facilities. The new technology and our other recycling equipment and processes will reduce our solid waste up to 70%, reducing the need for waste disposal.

Eco Friendly Packaging: We help our customers improve their sustainability through the range of flexible packaging systems offered. Aseptic and restorable packages from Tetra Pak are convenient and very eco-friendly, utilizing less than half the greenhouse gasses, waste and energy in producing and transporting product - this translates to lower costs and lower CO2 emissions. Tetra Pak aseptic cartons are made mainly from paper, a renewable resource sourced from responsibly managed forests, and can be recycled to create tissue, paper, and even furniture.  For more information about Carton recycling, please click here.

In general, cartons involve less packaging material in relation to the product they protect. Their combination of strength, light weight and compact shape means a lower carbon footprint. Products in carton don’t require refrigeration, thus saving energy during transportation and storage.

Water Stewardship: Our award-winning water treatment plant reclaims all wastewater from the facility. The water is purified and prepared for reuse. Our proximity to the agriculture community allows a majority of the water to be reused for crop irrigation.

Forest Sustainability: Packaging materials and pallets contain a considerable amount of timber products. We have implemented new processes that reduce CNP’s timber consumption. These processes save the equivalent of 9 acres of timber per month. We are on track to save the equivalent of 110 acres of timber this year.

Chemical Management: The use of sanitization chemicals in our plant is critical to the safety of our products. CNP recently initiated a project that significantly reduces the use and packaging of these chemicals.
